GIRARD-PERREGAUX Richeville Chronograph Rose gold – #Ref 2710 – A Small but Stunning Chronograph Watch

If we talk about the complexity of mechanical watch movements, Chronograph is somewhere between the basic 3-hand 1-calendar movement and the movement with annual calendar (annual calendar).

Chronograph is definitely a complex mechanism (complication), because in addition to hour, minute and second hands to indicate time, it also includes a sports timer mechanism with hands and sub-dials for this purpose. Therefore, most Chronograph watches will be larger and thicker than basic watches. For those with wrists under 16cm, finding a sports timer watch will be a bit difficult, and GP Richeville #2710 will be one of the most beautiful Chronograph watches for those with small wrists.

The brand – Girard-Perregaux

About Girard-Perregaux, this is an old brand, founded in 1791, even older than Patek Philippe (1839) or Audemars Piguet (1875) and only a few years younger than the oldest Swiss watchmaker Blancpain (1735).

After a series of impacts of the quartz crisis to ensure business survival similar to Cartier’s strategy, Girard-Perregaux is now a member of Kering Group, a group that owns some high-end brands such as YSL, Gucci, etc. Girard-Perregaux for me is one of the top brands worth owning because they do most of the watchmaking steps from producing in-house movements, making cases as well as finishing and quality control steps, something that not many big watch brands with names can do nowadays.

GP Richeville #ref 2710

Richeville used to be a very successful collection of GP, produced for about 20 years before Facebook or social networks were created, so you will not often see it appear or the information you find about these watches in this collection is also very little.

With tonneau case shape (some people call it barrel shape) and polished finish all over I have to give this GP Richeville a word that is “Glamorous”. You may find some models with similar shapes like The Cartier Tortue or young brand Franck Muller but if you go into details you will see that GP has subtle lines that bring classic elegance. For example on this 2710 model, with silver-plated dial face, finish is combined with guilloche pattern, scratch and concentric circle pattern combined with Breguet hands or also called goose eye hands that are blued. You can hardly find any point to criticize this watch. With small size of 35mm x 45mm, GP 2710 uses hand-wound GP 8380 movement improved from Lemania 1870/1872 movement, with 17 jewels, 42 hours power reserve, 21600bph frequency. This 2710 model is completely suitable for those with wrists from 15cm. Although it has shape and size of a luxurious dress watch but large crown and black Roman numerals stand out giving it a very subtle sporty look.

On hand:

As I mentioned above with lug to lug size of only 45mm, GP 2710 can completely suit those with wrists from 15cm. My hand is 18cm but round wrist shape, wrist width is only about 50~52mm when wearing this GP Richeville it also doesn’t feel too small. With impressive thinness GP Richeville 2710 can easily fit under sleeve and appear discreetly attracting attention of opposite person.
